A burly trail bike that will have you sessioning your local trails and testing your limits, all while leaving a little extra money in your pocket. Outfitted with a rugged aluminum frame, this Blackthorn is a little heavier than its carbon counterparts, but it’s tougher, has the same great handling, and is a bit more affordable. RockShox suspension handles to squish, with a 35 Gold RL up front and a Super Deluxe out back. This suspension pairing eats up rough trails, smooths out rock gardens, and softens your landings. Shimano’s reliable Deore groupset (6100 series) handles your stop and go. The 1x12 drivetrain has a ton of mechanical advantage to take the edge off those climb trails. And the hydraulic disc brakes let you keep your speed right where you want it, in even the worst weather. The dropper post is a collaboration between Salsa and TranzX, that allows for up to 30mm of adjustability, no tools required. Allowing you to personalize your dropper, a key component that takes you from comfortably seated in the climbs, to flowing freely on the descents at the push of a lever.

  • Light and strong 6061 aluminum frame has been refined to be more aggressive in the descents and more efficient in the climbs
  • RockShox 35 Gold RL with the DebonAir™ air spring and Motion Control™ damper, has burly 35mm stanchions that improve strength and rigidity, 160mm of travel, and a lockout for climbing
  • RockShox Deluxe select uses the highly tunable DebonAir™ spring and has with 140mm of travel
  • Split pivot design has been tuned to focus pedalling power to the cranks and stopping power to the wheels, improving efficiency and braking without compromising either
  • Flip chip in the rear linkage lets you tune your ride for where you’re riding, with a more upright position for better climbing and all mountain riding, and a slacker position for aggressive descending
  • Shimano Deore 1 x 12 drivetrain is rugged, reliable, and affordable, providing fast accurate shifts even in rough terrain
  • Shimano Deore hydraulic disc brakes offer precise speed control in all conditions
  • Internal cable routing keeps your cables safe from trail hazards and has a nice clean look
  • TranzX YSI05 dropper post can be adjusted up to 30mm without any tools, giving riders at either end of the size range a little more freedom
  • Dropper travel: SM frames have 125mm, MD frames have 150mm, LG frames have 170mm, and the XL has a 200mm
  • Maxxis Assegai front tire cuts through loose dirt and loam for precise handling, while the Dissector rear tire bites into the trail to make sure your power goes right where it should
  • Tires and rims are tubeless ready if you want to convert down the road
  • WTB Volt saddle is comfy and supportive on rides of any length (250 x 135mm)
  • Mounts for bottles, frame bags and more
  • Machined slot in the front shock brace is there to slip a strap through, giving you a ready-made place to strap a tube
  • Frame is dual wheel compatible, coming with 29in. tires but able to use 27.5in. tires all the way up to 3in. wide
  • Due to challenges with supply chain, components may be substituted for comparable parts at any time. The listed build is how MEC intended your bike to arrive, though the manufacturer may need to make a tweak or two to get you riding sooner
