Combining 406MHz GPS signal with the AIS messaging and NFC, puts this compact PLB in a class of its own. In a first for a beacon of its size, the AIS PLB has near field communication (NFC), this lets it communicate with modern phones; simply bring your phone near the PLB and the free ACR app opens. In the app you can check your PLB’s battery, run tests, check logs, and see GPS information. Designed to mount on your inflatable PFD, this PLB activates the moment your PFD inflates. The first alert and a location to all surrounding vessels with AIS transponders. The first message has latitude and longitude positioning. Once a GPS signal is connected, subsequent messages have a precise GPS fix (AIS). In non-man overboard emergencies, the PLB can be manually activated. Transmitting your location to first responders to the MEOSAR satellite constellation via the 406Mhz frequency. The beacon also broadcasts a local signal on 121.5 MHz that searchers can pinpoint once they're in your vicinity.
