On its own, you can send voice and text messages, check-in, call for a rescue, and use breadcrumb style navigation. When paired with your phone, you get complete access to your phone’s keyboard, the ability to send photos, and use map-based GPS navigation, no cell phone signal required. Messages travel on Iridium’s satellite network, giving you the ability to call for help or share a moment, anywhere on the planet. Updated with a bright touchscreen, the third generation inReach Mini redefines “keeping in touch” in the backcountry. On frigid adventures, you can use voice controls to send a message or check-in with the classic button interface, so you won’t need to take your gloves off. And if you get lost, but it isn’t an emergency, the internal GPS will show an easy path right back to where you started via the TracBack feature.
