Make your training look better than ever. Below its brilliant, upgraded AMOLED screen, Garmin’s forerunner 970 hones the impressive training metrics that made the line a must have on starting grids and trails all over the world. New features like impact load look at your run as you felt it, with all the ups and downs and not just a flat land course. The latest generation Elevate optical sensor can now provide ECG readings. This new sensor performs better in challenging conditions, like trail running, gravel riding, and weightlifting, activities that are notoriously challenging for optical sensors. Mapping functionality borrowed from the top-tier Fenix line lets you plot courses and plan routes. The multiband GPS pulls in speed, distance, and location data. Running power and running dynamics come right from your watch. Garmin’s Morning Report is now joined by an evening report. One helps you plan your day, even providing a daily suggested workout, while the other helps you plan your tomorrow, with rest and recovery information. When you need extra information, or motivation, the 970 can build advanced training plans for you; from your first 10k to you next triathlon. And if you want to take your training planning to the next level, the free Garmin Connect app lets you do that. Connect lets you prepare for specific activities and events – tailoring your training to that course, review past performance, receive notifications, and more. Little quality of life upgrades like the fan-favourite flashlight have made it to the Forerunner, and have even been upgraded with runners in mind. The flashlight can now be used on your runs to help keep you seen, turning on automatically at sunset and flashing until your activity completes.
