- 1066 High-carbon steel blade is tough, holds an edge well, and is easy to resharpen. If you are carving green wood, or wet wood, be sure to clean your blade before storing it. A little rubbing alcohol will remove sap and other muck, once clean put a little oil on the steel to ensure this axe gives you decades of enjoyment.
