A technical, fully featured backpack made for demanding thru-hikes and rugged backcountry expeditions. The smaller edition of the pack that won Outside Magazine's Gear of the Year Award in 2017, the Ariel AG 55 can handle anything you throw at it – or in it. Anti-Gravity suspension transfers the load to your hips for more efficient carrying, keeping the weight stable as you climb up and down the legendary ladders of the West Coast Trail or scramble over boulders en route to the alpine. The mesh back panel and shoulder straps let your back breathe as you pound out the last kilometre to tonight's camp. When you get there, remove the innovative lid, and voila! It becomes a 16L daypack ready to carry essentials for tomorrow's quick summit mission or side trip to a secret lake.

  • Made of lightweight 210-denier nylon with a robust 500-denier nylon packcloth base
  • Anti-Gravity suspension with peripheral frame and suspended mesh back panel effectively transfers the load to the hipbelt while letting cool air flow through to your back
  • Women’s-specific design features a shorter torso length, shoulder straps that are set closer together and a hipbelt shaped to fit curvier hips
  • Die-cut foam shoulder straps have a structural load lifter bar for weight transfer and comfort
  • Custom heat-moulded hipbelt provides a personalized fit
  • Mesh bridge between the hipbelt pads pulls in the lumbar to support heavy loads
  • Access the pack interior via the top drawstring or bottom and side zippers
  • Bottom sleeping bag compartment has a stowable divider if you want your sleeping bag to mingle with the rest of your gear
  • Stretch-mesh front and side pockets let you stash gear on the fly
  • Zippered hipbelt and lid pockets provide secure storage
  • Dual tool loops with bungee tie-offs carry ice axes
  • Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole attachments let you stash your poles without removing the pack
  • Side compression straps and bottom sleeping pad straps cinch in the load and allow you to attach extra gear
  • External-access hydration sleeve holds a 3L reservoir (sold separately)
  • Top lid is removable and converts into the 16L DayLid pack for trips away from your base camp
