Aluminum crampons are great in your pack on the approach as they're soooooo light. But they're less durable and more breakable than steel. The aluminum front points are reinforced with steel alloy attachments, so they're sharp for good penetration and security and significantly resistance to wear. (Though note the remaining aluminum-only points will wear on rock.) An excellent choice for expeditions and low-angle mixed routes where light weight and high strength are at a premium.
