Well-suited to high-performance and elite-level skiers, these skate bindings
are designed with the lowest possible profile for a low centre of gravity and
more efficient kick. The wider platform of support allows for edge control and
additional stability. The rigid bumper provides solid support for a skating
kick.
The R4 adds the NIS plate mount system to the NNN family of bindings. This
system allows rapid mounting of the bindings to NIS compatible skis from
Rossignol®. This system allows the binding to be locked into any one of five
post-mount positions through the centre of the ski. On classic skis, moving the
binding forward improves kick, moving it back improves glide.
The NIS system also allows very tight contact between the skis and bindings.
It also eliminates the need to find the balance point and, because there are no
fixed points, the skis retain a more natural flex. Lastly, with the binding mat
removed you potentially reduce the overall weight by 50 grams for each ski.
Folks who prefer the traditional mounting method can still buy the R3 series
of bindings and simply instruct the ski tech to drill through the plate on NIS
skis to allow regular screw mounts.
